Case Study: Branding local community services

Ballymun Community Law CentreBallymun Community Law Centre was established in 2002 to tackle unmet legal needs in the local community. Historically, the Centre has provided free legal advice, information, representation and mediation services to individuals and groups within the community, in addition to a number of legal and mediation education and training courses to interest groups within the greater Dublin area.

To support this activity, Shaw Consulting assisted the Centre to develop and implement a marketing and communications plan to support the Centre’s objectives.

The team needed a programme of consistent, cost effective marketing activities to raise the Centre’s profile among key audiences, develop relationships with stakeholders and maintain the Centre’s relevance in the local community.

The scope of the project included a review of activities to date, development of a fit for purpose marketing and communications plan including branding, mobile website development, content development, email marketing, stakeholder communications and social media, with ongoing guidance, oversight and training.

As part of the project, designers POST developed a number of icons that reflected the Centre’s core activities.

In August 2017, the Centre launched its new look website and brand identity, both designed by Post.  Treating the Centre’s original logo with sensitivity, a geometric, playful identity was created to modernise the brand both online and offline.  Finally, local photography gave the organisation a sense of place and community.
